Why phone numbers are 10 digit

Good Morning Good Evening Good Night  Friends whenever you are reading this post.

Phone Numbers are basically 10 digit in almost all countries, so what Is the reason behind it, lets find out.

But wait we will also be attaching a video from YouTube here, so if you are annoyed in reading all this just simply play the video and enjoy.

Actual Reason behind why phone number are 10 digits

Lets take the example of India, worlds second most populated country.
So it has a population of nearly 1.33 billion or 133 crores (at the time of writing post) so we need more than 1.33 billion  phone number.

So if we have a two digit phone number we can have phone numbers from 00,01,02,03...............98,99 = 100 numbers.
Means if we have 2 digit phone number then last digit (99) +1 = total phone numbers (100).

So now take a 9 digit long number.
999999999= 99 crores/  999 million ( approx neglecting decimals) , +1 = 100 crore / 10 billion.
So if we increase one more digit then phone numbers will increase to 1000 crore or 10 billion, which is a very big number and population can't reach this much number till very long years for a particular country.
Because if country changes country code also changes. So we will not go out of numbers for very long.

So why less populated countries like USA have 10 digit number

As USA also have a population nearly about 32 crores or 320 million so they are also having a 10 digit phone number just in case they don't go out in meeting demands of phone numbers in future.
